Non-Certified Personal Attendant:  This position requires a current First Aid/CPR certification within two weeks of hire.  No other formal certifications are required for this position; however, employees must be able to provide evidence that they possess the skills necessary (through "hands on" work experience or by documented training) to perform the required duties.

Employees who provide services under this classification will assist seniors and disabled individuals with their basic physical care needs and activities of daily living.  Primary duties may include the following: 

  • Protective care and supervision
  • Non-intrusive personal hygiene and grooming assistance (bathing, dressing and toileting)
  • Meal preparation and cleanup
  • Feeding
  • Ambulating/transfer assistance

Employees who provide services under this classification may also provide the following Secondary duties:

  • Non-intrusive medication monitoring
  • Non-intrusive equipment monitoring
  • Receiving instructions from medical personnel and following established care plans
  • Charting and record keeping of daily activities
  • Any subsequent household duties and/or physical assistance that provides for the safety, comfort and well-being of the client
 

Household Chore Worker:  No formal certification is required for this position; however, employees must be able to provide evidence that they possess the skills necessary (through "hands on" work experience or by documented training) to perform the required duties.

Employees who provide services under this classification will assist seniors and disabled individuals with their household chores and activities of daily living.  Duties may include the following:

  • Light housekeeping (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning and sanitation of lavatories and kitchens
  • Washing interior windows and mirrors
  • Cleaning and polishing brass and silver
  • Making beds and changing linens
  • Washing and folding laundry, sorting and organizing of personal effects
  • Meal preparation
  • Washing dishes
  • Shopping and miscellaneous errands
  • Transportation
  • Trash removal
  • Watering of household plants
  • Minimal pet care
  • Any subsequent household duties which constitute normal activities of daily living
